My review of the STIHL KombiSystem KM 131 R Professional
If you’ve seen me around either on the road or perhaps working at your place in North West Tasmania you may have noticed that I have a lot of STIHL equipment in my ute and this is not because I’m sponsored or discounted by STIHL it’s simply because I can rely on them when I’m in some remote locations. I like to take absolutely everything with me because I never know what jobs may arise from day to day.
This review is for my latest bit of gear the STIHL KombiSystem KM 131 R Professional version which is the top of the range priced at $699 for the engine $299 for the pole saw attachment, $399 for the hedge trimmer attachment plus $199 for the extension which I also got for those higher to reach hedges and tree limbs. At a total of $1600 it wasn’t that cheap but it has proven to be worth it upon my first real jobs today!
Firstly when fully set up it isn’t that light so you would need to be fairly strong to use it for a while. Also I had some trouble figuring out that the attachment needs to be inserted to the red line for it to work correctly. The other thing I had to do was run the pole saw attachment for 5 minutes to allow the bar oil to run through to the chain which is pretty normal anyway.
I found that cutting with the saw was easy it is very good quality. The hedge trimmer is outstanding and just glides across hedges and shrubs with ease I also like using it to shape things too!. The sound isn’t overly loud either although you can feel that the engine has all the grunt you need. It is a quality bit of gear and I don’t regret spending the money at all.
There are quite a few other attachment available for this Kombi engine but I wont be getting any others because I already have blowers, and brush-cutters etc.. on their own. Maybe down the track though there may be a need for it but Ill see what happens.
My rating 4.5 out of 5 the only downfall from 5 stars would be the weight is a little heavy although the extension is made of graphite.
